Each decorative bottle contains oil blessed by a friar at the Dominican Shrine of St. Jude in the presence of the Relic of St. Jude, reflecting practices of the early Christians. Commonly called “St. Jude Oil,” faithful use this oil to bless others for a variety of reason. All baptized faithful may carry out this practice. The Shrine suggests the following wording for a blessing:
“Through the powerful intercession of St. Jude, apostle and martyr, may God deliver you from all hopelessness and despair and grant you every healing of body and soul, in the name of the Father+, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
Baptized faithful may provide a blessing with St. Jude Oil by making a small sign of the cross on the forehead of the person they blessed. For added convenience, we include a printed copy of the blessing with each bottle of oil.
It comes in two sizes, 1/2 ounce and 1 ounce.
