In response to a summer of violence in Chicago, “Sunrise Prayer Services for Peace” were held simultaneously last month at beaches across the city including Oakwood Beach, 31st Street Beach, 12th Street Beach, and Rainbow Beach. These events were sponsored by the Black Catholic Deacons.
As another response to the uptick in violence in Chicago neighborhoods, the Baptist, Methodist, Episcopal and Catholic Churches in Morgan Park are sponsoring an interdenominational conference on October 27, 2012 to plan their Christian response to the increase in violence in the neighborhood.
