Appointed Spiritual Director of the Dominican Shrine of St. Jude Thaddeus in July 2018, Fr. Patrick Tobin O.P. comes to the Shrine from the academic world. Since the age of 18, Fr. Patrick has been affiliated in one way or another with higher education and Universities. First as a student, he studied chemistry (B.S. and Ph.D.) and then moved on to philosophy and theology as part of his Dominican formation (M.Div.). Then as a campus minister, he served at St. Thomas More Newman Parish ministering to the University of Missouri community after his priestly ordination. And finally as a teacher and campus minister, he taught chemistry and ministered to students at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Fr. Patrick now brings his no nonsense, problem solving skills to the Shrine community and looks forward to serving in this new and exciting capacity!
Gracie Alfaro is the longest serving member of the Shrine staff having started out in the Shrine Gift Shop in 1990 and then moved through just about every aspect of Shrine operation over the years to the present. Gracie has long been the kind voice at the other end of the phone when members of the Shrine community have called the Shrine office. She is currently responsible for taking calls and processing the many requests for prayers, perpetual enrollments, masses, and St. Jude oil which the Shrine receives each day. She is also surprisingly shy.
